Why Pray?

Prayer is more than meditation. In meditation, the source pf strength is one’s self. When one prays, he goes to a source of strength greater than his own.” Germaine Necker

Prayer is a way of finding peace and inner strength. It has been used by Christians, Jews, Muslims and Hindu for generations. It is the desire to connect to a greater power, to someone who can do something about your needs and give you inner peace.

Prayer is you talking to God. How can we talk to God directly you may be asking? Well Jesus made a way for all to come into God’s presence and find peace. If this is your first time of praying my recommendation would be to just talk to Jesus honestly and tell him how you feel. Once you have got over the awkward silence, a peace will come and as you give each situation to God this feeling will increase.

If you are afraid- remember Jesus’ name is above all names so call upon Him and He will come and be with you.

If you find it difficult to focus on God then put on some inspirational music and allow the words and worship to settle you so you are ready to pray.

Jesus says “you can pray for anything in my Name”- we just have to be His friend. John 15 – The Bible

If you don’t know Jesus as your friend then read the following paragraph and if you want to deepen your commitment to God, then pray the prayer and we will help you, Jesus wants to be your friend. He wants to show you His love and commitment. He died on the cross for your sins so you would be able to be a friend of God’s. In order to get closer to God we need to be right with God. In order to be right with God we need to ask Jesus into our lives as Lord & Saviour. Thanking him for dying for our sins and trusting him with our future.

If you want to deepen your commitment to God, then pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Forgive me for the things I have done wrong. I want a relationship with you and will trust you with my whole being. I place my life into your hands. Fill me with your spirit so I can know you as friend and Lord. Amen
